Mumbai: India’s Covid-19 figures have surged to 85,940 as the tally increases by 3,970 cases and 103 deaths in the last 24 hours according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The country has witnessed 2,752 fatalities up to date and homes around 53,035 active cases with 30,153 recoveries.
Maharashtra constitutes the majority of cases with 29,100 positive cases and 1,068 deaths. This is followed by Tamil Nadu with 10,108 cases and 71 deaths and Gujarat with 9,931 cases and 606 deaths.
India has currently tested over 21 lakh samples and has crossed China’s Covid-19 figures on Friday. India stands at 11th most affected country in the world with a death rate of 3.2 per cent.
