Urdu Poet Rahat Indori Passes Away At 70, After Testing Positive For COVID And 2 Heart Attacks
Mumbai: Eminent Urdu poet Rahat Indori, who tested positive for coronavirus, died on Tuesday in a hospital in Indore after suffering a heart attack, doctors treated him.
“He suffered two heart attacks today and could not be saved. He was admitted to hospital on Sunday, after testing positive for Covid-19. He had 60% pneumonia,” said Dr. Vinod Bhandari of Sri Aurobindo Hospital.
Rahat Indori is a well-known figure in the genre of Urdu poetry and has also penned lyrics for several Bollywood songs. He has written the songs for the movies `Munna Bhai MBBS`, `Murder`, and others.
A poem named Bulati Hai Magar Jaane Ka Nahi got viral in TikTok and started trending on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram during 2020 Valentine’s week. People started using this phrase as a meme.
Rahat was awarded a Ph.D. in Urdu literature from the Bhoj University of Madhya Pradesh in 1985 for his thesis titled Urdu Main Mushaira.
