Srisailam Hydel Project Tragedy: 6 Dead, 10 Rescued Operation Underway

Mumbai: In another shocking incident, Six bodies have been recovered from Telangana’s Srisailam power station, which caught fire on Thursday night. 

Unit 4 of the power station caught fire after the explosion. Initial reports indicated that a short circuit caused a massive explosion.

A fire broke out late at night at the Left Bank Power House in Srisailam in Telangana. Fire brigade deployed from Atmakur Fire Station, Kurnool. Ten people were rescued, 6 of whom are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Srisailam. Nine people were still feared trapped. 

Speaking to reporters, officials at the site said that there were 17 people on duty at the time of the accident, of which eight were rescued through a tunnel. Unfortunately, nine people including six TSGenco employees and three private company employees were trapped inside the building.

Telangana CM KCR Rao’s office said he was constantly monitoring operations at the accident site. “CM K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed shock at the incident. He is getting information about the incident. He spoke to Chief Minister Jagadishwar Reddy and Transco, Genco CMD D Prabhakar Rao, who was on-site and reviewing relief measures,” the Chief Minister’s Office said.
