Karnataka Bypolls: BJP Maintains Lead In Both Seats

Mumbai: Election officials said on Tuesday that the ruling BJP has maintained its lead over the opposition Congress and JD (S) for the two assembly segments in the state.

Polling was held for counting at 8 am in the by-elections held for Sira in Tumkuru district and Rajarajeshwari Nagar (RR Nagar) in the city on 3 November and the results are expected to be out in a few hours from now.

According to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, the trends suggest that the BJP candidate was ahead in Sira by a margin of over 7,800 votes, while the party continued to lead in RR Nagar by a margin of over 34,500 votes.

BJP’s Dr. C M Rajesh Gowda is leading with 37,808 votes in Sira, followed by Congress’ T B Jayachandra with 29,938.

Trend show JD (S) which won the seat in the 2018 assembly elections, party candidate Ammajamma B was brought back to third place with 19,522 votes.

In RR Nagar also BJP’s N. Munirathana was leading by 73,932 votes, followed by Congress’s Kusuma H with 39,415 votes.

The JD (S) is in third place, with party candidate V Krishnamurthy getting 4,660 votes so far.

As the trends clearly show the BJP in both seats, the Chief Minister’s Office released a video of Ministers R Ashoka, Basavaraj Bommai, Siramulu, Barathi Basavaraj, and others feeding sweets to CM Yeddyurappa.
