200 Detained In Connection With Farmers’ Tractor Rally Violence In Delhi

Mumbai: Delhi Police on Tuesday detained 200 people in connection with the violence that took place in various parts of the national capital during the Kisan Tractor Rally in the city.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Delhi Police said that “those detained will be arrested soon.” A total of 22 FIRs have been registered in connection with the violence in which more than 300 police personnel have been injured. A day after the vandalism at the Red Fort complex by agitating farmers during a tractor rally, Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Patel along with police and other officials visited the site where broken pieces of glass, scattered pieces of paper, vandal ticket counters, Metal detector gate, and police caps could be seen.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police said in a statement that it has sentenced IPC Sec 395 (robbery), 397 (robbery, or dacoity, under the attempt to cause death or injury on the complaint), 120B (criminal conspiracy conviction) and other sections. An FIR has been filed in connection with yesterday’s violence in the Red Fort. The crime branch will investigate the case,” it said.

Delhi Police said that during the violence, the operator of Additional DCP Central was attacked with a sword on ITO on Tuesday.

A meeting of the Delhi Police Commissioner is currently underway with senior police officers to review the security situation after the violence.

Delhi Police is scheduled to hold a press conference today.

Farmers broke barricades to enter Delhi and committed vandalism in many parts of the national capital during a farmers tractor rally organized in protest against the Center’s three new agricultural laws.

Several public and private properties were damaged in acts of vandalism by the rowdy mob.

Farmers have been protesting on the different borders of the national capital since November 26 against the three newly enacted farm laws – Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
