Tamil Nadu: Woman Killed 40-Yr-Old Man To Save Herself From Sexual Assault

Chennai: A 20-year-old woman killed a 40-year-old unidentified man to escape sexual assault in Minjoor, Tamil Nadu.

The incident happened on Tuesday and after the case, the woman was booked under section 100 (right to private defence of body till the cause of death) of the Indian Penal Code.

However, the police on Thursday freed the woman without any charges. Preliminary investigation revealed that the police had earlier registered a case of suspicious death after the body of the man was found near the fish farm.

Reportedly, the woman, who is also a mother of two children, was working in the field when the incident took place. The man entered the field and strangled her too. Later he took her to a secluded place for sexual abuse.

However, the woman did not lose hope and pushed him to the ground where he hit a stone and lost consciousness. Later, the youth was dragged from the field and thrown on the road.

After narrating the entire ordeal to her husband Poonagavanam, she along with other associates went to the spot and found some local villagers at the spot where his wife had dumped the body.

The matter was reported to the police and they reached the spot. The ambulance service was also informed and after investigation, the person was declared brought dead.

After this, the police sent the body for medical examination and also registered a case of a suspicious death.

“We inquired about the deceased in the neighbourhood and people said that they had seen him a couple of times in the area. They said that he was not employed in any company there,” a report published by the Times of India quoted Inspector Vadivel Murugan as saying.

As per Tiruvallur SP Varun Kumar, the woman, who was booked under section 100 of the IPC, was set free after assessing the case.
