Cash, Valuables Worth ₹66 Lakh Looted From Doctor’s House In Lonavala

Pune: Robbers barged into the house of an elderly paediatrician in Lonavala and looted cash and valuables worth ₹66.77 lakh from the doctor’s house.

Pune Rural SP Abhinav Deshmukh reportedly said, “There were rumours about the doctor having stashed huge cash at his bungalow…This prompted them to…execute the dacoity.”

The police team probing the case has also recovered cash and valuables worth Rs 30.52 lakh from the suspects.

Commenting on the arrests made in the case, Pune Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinav Deshmukh said, “There were rumours that the doctor had deposited huge cash in his bungalow. This prompted them to plot and execute the dacoity,” as saying was quoted by The Times of India. 

The report further states that the mastermind accused is a resident of the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. Several other cases of dacoity and dacoity were registered against the prime suspect in Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

The victim has been identified as Hiralal Khandelwal (73), a paediatrician at Pradhan Park, Lonavala.

After breaking into the home of an elderly couple, the suspects forced them to hand over the keys to their locker. After this, the robbers tied their hands and feet and fled the house with Rs 50 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 16.7 lakh.
