India’s New COVID-19 Cases Rise To 36,401; Active Cases Lowest In 149 Days

Mumbai: India has reported 36,401 new COVID-19 cases and 530 deaths in the last 24 hours. This comes a day after the country reported 35,178 cases and 440 deaths.

With this COVID death toll in the country rose to 4,33,049.

The active caseload on Thursday is 3,64,129 – the lowest in 149 days. Active cases account for 1.13 per cent of the total cases.

The Health Ministry said on Thursday that a total of 3,15,25,080 people have recovered from the infection so far. The recovery rate in India now stands at 97.53 per cent – the highest since March last year.

Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.94 per cent. It has been less than 3 per cent for the 24th consecutive day.

Meanwhile, India has achieved the milestone of conducting 50 crore COVID-19 tests across the country, informed the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

“With average daily testing of over 17 lakh in has so far tested 50 crore samples across the country.

India has achieved the milestone of the last 100 million tests in just 55 days. On July 21, 2021, India tested 45 crore COVID-19 samples, reaching the figure of 50 crores on August 18, 2021,” ICMR said in a press release. 

Under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, a total of 56,64,88,433 vaccines have been administered across the country. 56,36,336 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.
