Ahead Of Union Budget Nirmala Sitharaman Meets Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu In Andhra Pradesh

Mumbai: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday met Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu at his residence.

The topics covered under the upcoming Union Budget discussion are prominently included. Whereas Naidu had some suggestions for Sitharaman, such as the need to take steps to protect agriculture and make structural changes.

Underlining the need to protect the interests of the farming community, Naidu also suggested that the import-export policy be reviewed. He asked Andhra Pradesh, who was declared by the predecessor of Sitharaman Arun Jaitley, to continue with “special assistance, special attention and special distribution”.

The Vice President also reminded the minister that he had talked about the foundation of the hospital, after which Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Kaminieni Srinivas raised this issue. Later, the announcement was made by the Union Minister.

Minister of State for Steel, Faggan Singh Kulaste also met the Vice President and later inquired about the status of the proposal to set up a steel plant in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh.

The minister assured the Vice President that he would raise this issue with Union Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and discuss with senior officials.
