Air Quality In Delhi Remains In ‘Very Poor’ Quality, AQI 379

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR issued various directions to control air pollution in the region

Mumbai: For the fourth consecutive day, Delhi’s Air Quality continues to be in the ‘very poor category, as per the System of Air Quality & Weather Forecasting & Research (SAFAR).

However, the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) reduced from 396 on Tuesday to 379 today.

Meanwhile, the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and adjoining Areas (CAQM) on Tuesday issued directions to curb pollution by banning construction work, shutting public schools, working from home and many others. Pradesh to ensure ‘strict force’ of the measures with immediate effect.

The commission has also directed five states to submit a compliance report before November 22 to the commission and directions will be closely monitored by Chief Secretary of NCR states, GNCTD on a regular basis, said the official release.

Earlier today, the centre had expressed unwillingness to ask its employees to work from home and instead resort them to carpooling as the number of vehicles used by the Central government is a minuscule fraction of the total vehicles in the national capital.

However, it asked the supreme court to shut industries using unapproved fuels and construction sites till November 21.
