Mumbai: A 74 year old woman from Andhra Pradesh completed her wish of being a mother at a very old age. She approached the Ahalya Hospital and conceived in January. She gave birth to healthy twins on Thursday, said the Director of Ahalya Hospital, Dr. Umasankar.
“She approached our hospital last year for getting a baby through IVF method. Egg from a donor and sperm from her husband were used. She conceived in January. She delivered twin girls today. Both are healthy. Mother is in ICU,” the doctor said.
The doctor also said that there was no harm suspected after the delivery of the mother. The twin girls will be provided milk from the Milk Bank as the age of the mother is not suitable for providing milk to the girls.

Erramati and Raj Rao were married in the year 1962 and it had been 57 years after their marriage and they had no child during that period. Erramati who wanted to have children of her own approached the scientific method of IVF to conceive. This idea came to her when she realised her neighbour, another elder, woman of 55 years of age, conceived through IVF.
Another woman from Punjab, Daljinder Kaur (70) conceived baby in the year 2016.
