Arvind Kejriwal Slams Punjab Govt Over Sacrilege, Drugs Cases

Mumbai: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday alleged a conspiracy behind recent cases of sacrilege and blasts and said a weak government has failed to break the whip of ruling Punjab.

A bomb exploded in the district court complex in Ludhiana on Thursday, killing one person and injuring six others, prompting the Punjab government to declare a high alert in the state.

Police suspect that the person killed in the blast may have been trying to assemble or plant an explosive device.

Cases of sacrilege came to light a few days back. Now there is a blast in Ludhiana. Before the elections, such incidents are being done as part of a conspiracy to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the state. During a conversation with journalists in Amritsar, Kejriwal said that this is the handiwork of some people.

He said that he has full faith in the people of Punjab and they will defeat the nefarious designs of those who try to create tension.

Hitting out at the Channi-led government, he said, “The government of Punjab is weak. They (leaders of the ruling party) are fighting amongst themselves. Punjab needs an honest strong government that will take action against those involved in the conspiracies.

He said the person who tried to sabotage the Golden Temple may have been sent by some influential person to stir up tension and there have been several cases of sacrilege in the last five years.

He said such incidents would continue to happen until a strong government was formed.

He promised an honest, strong and stable government that would punish the guilty.
