Arvind Kejriwal Urges Recovered COVID-19 Patients To Donate Blood Plasma To Save Lives

Mumbai: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Director of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, Dr. SK Sarin requested the recovered coronavirus patients to donate blood plasma so that the critical patients can be saved from organ failure.

“The central government only gave us permission for limited trials of plasma therapy on serious patients at LNJP Hospital. In the next 2-3 days, we will do more tests and then we will take permission next week, for all serious patients.” Kejriwal said.

“Because there is no vaccine yet to treat coronovirus patients, the government and doctors are working hard to bring it into treatment to prevent the deaths of coronovirus-infected patients,” Dr. Sarin confirmed the testing process in Delhi.

He continued, “At this time, we need people who have recovered from COVID-19 and are at their homes. We need to show their patriotism and donate blood plasma.”

The ILBS director explained the plasma therapy given to serious patients, stating, “The bodies of people recovering from coronovirus form an anti-body / plasma in the blood, helping a person fight the coronovirus. If it’s even a little bit. If a little bit of this anti-body/plasma is given to a critical patient then the plasma helps in the latter person’s recovery.”

‘We are happy with the positive results in 4 patients. He said that blood and plasma is ready for 2-3 other patients in LNJP hospital, we can give them plasma therapy today,” he said.

However, he stated that plasma therapy can only be given to patients who have not yet been placed on ventilators.

In addition, plasma therapy is a cheaper treatment because it has given a ray of hope to the crisis.

So far, plasma therapy has been given to about 4 patients at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital, two of which have fully recovered.

During the conference, Arvind Kejriwal said that the plasma therapy test at LNJP Hospital has so far given encouraging results and the government is likely to seek Centre’s permission to deliver treatment to all important COVID-19 patients in Delhi hospitals.
