Assam BJP Holds Mega Rally Supporting CAA

The rally comes amid mass protests and major protests against the newly formed citizenship law across the country

Mumbai: Assam BJP worker took out a four-kilometre-long mega rally in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act in Jagrod area of ​​Morigaon district on Friday. The huge rally was led by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Minister of State Himanta Biswa Sarma.

More than 50,000 people, including local residents, BJP workers and supporters, participated in the four-kilometre-long rally that began at the Jagrod College playground and concluded at the playground of Kaichuki Lower Primary School. Several leaders including Sonowal and Sarma also addressed the gathering here.

Taking to Twitter, the Chief Minister said after attending the rally, “People of Assam want peace and progress.

Massive turnout in the peace rally at Jagiroad proved this once again. My heartfelt thanks to the people for their continued faith in us. Sought their blessings and cooperation to continue the development journey of our state.”

The rally comes amid mass protests and major protests against the newly formed citizenship law across the country.

The new law grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Zoroastrians, Buddhists and Christians from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who came to India on or before December 31, 2014.
