Assam Govt Imposes Night Curfew From 9 pm To 5 am, Issues New Guidelines

Assam: The Assam government on Wednesday issued new COVID-19 guidelines to prevent the spread of new cases of coronavirus infection across the state. The state government has also announced that a night curfew will be imposed in all districts of Assam from 9 pm to 5 am.

If the test positivity of COVID-19 reaches more than 10 cases in any area in the last 7 days, the DM having jurisdiction shall declare such areas as total containment zones and containment zones for COVID-19.

In order to ensure necessary containment measures, the Assam government in its fresh instructions said that it will be effective from today till further orders.

The SOP also said that “physical classes for postgraduate, graduate, higher secondary final year will be allowed for students who have had the single-dose vaccine. However, students of class 12 who are below 18 years of age and if not vaccinated, should not be allowed to attend the physical classes.”

Schools are allowed to open for the first three days only to vaccinate students, teachers and staff. Physical classes will start on 6th September 2021.

Up to 50 single-dose vaccinated persons can meet or gather in an open or closed area with prior notification to the police. Prior permission from the jurisdictional DCs may be obtained for a maximum gathering of 200 persons (at least single-vaccinated) for both public and private functions under the condition that the hall capacity is not exceeded by more than 50 per cent, it read.

The new guidelines were announced by Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta. Assam on Tuesday reported five new deaths due to COVID-19, the National Health Mission said, while 570 more people took the caseload to 5,89,426.

With one death each in Kamrup Metro and one each in Jorhat, Nagaon and Tinsukia, the COVID-19 death toll rose to 5,660.
