Mumbai: Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Assam’s COVID-19 death increased to 1,043 on Wednesday from 76 new positive cases as compared to 2,16,139.
He said 115 patients were recovered from coronovirus infection and were discharged from state hospitals, taking the total number of people to 2,2,835.
Assam currently has 3,258 active cases, while three patients have moved out of the state.
“Expressing grief over the demise of two #COVID patients …… condolences and prayers”, the minister tweeted.
The three persons who died were all senior citizens and were residents of Cachar, Kamrup metropolis and Nalbari districts.
Sarma said that out of 25,498 tests conducted during the day, new cases were detected with the positivity of 0.30 per cent.
The total number of tests conducted in the state so far is 59,33,893.
