Battling Covid-19: Odisha Rolls Out Test Labs On Wheels In Prajapati District

Mumbai: Determined to ease out the Covid-19 situations, Odisha Government came out with a plan of mobile test lab vans starting from Prajapati District this Friday.

The step is being taken to outstretch door to door testing in widely populated regions and collect maximum samples of novel coronavirus.

Along with testing, the Laboratory vans are equipped with disinfectants, drinking water, disposal of clinical waste and other medical amenities.

The idea had been developed by Anupam Saha, Gajapati District Magistrate, with the help of National Health Mission and Indian Council of Medical and Research (ICMR).

The rules of social distancing must be obeyed by the van and can accommodate only 3 people inside.

“Many people are stranded at Andhra Pradesh borders. The process of bringing them back to the state has been started. We have created 180 medical centres across the district for the COVID-19 patients”, said Anupam Saha in an interaction with the Media.

“We have developed a van from which we will examine them for the lethal infection. Locals too would have to go under screening for the coronavirus. They will be informed a few days before about the van timings,” he added.

Odisha currently witnesses 284 coronavirus cases including 2 deaths.
