Mumbai: Police on Thursday detained noted historian Ramachandra Guha during a protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act at the Town Hall here.
He said, “I have pity on the police. They are getting orders from Delhi. This is completely wrong. Peaceful and ordinary citizens are protesting. Our home ministers will not allow peaceful protests. All should stand up.” Should.”
Section-144, which prohibits the gathering of four or more people, has been imposed for the next three days from 6 am today in the entire Bangalore city including the Bangalore rural district.
Protests have intensified in various parts of the country after the Parliament passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 last week. The bill became an act after the President’s assurances.
