Talking to reporters after the meeting, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya said that a special team from Delhi would be sent to Maharashtra.

Somaiya said, “We had a detailed discussion with the Union Home Secretary on the situation in Maharashtra. He assured us that he is looking into the incident and if necessary a special team from Delhi will be sent to Maharashtra.”

In the memorandum submitted by the delegation, it has been said that on April 23, 70-80 Shiv Sena workers assaulted Somaiya in the presence of policemen at the gate of Khar police station premises.

While the BJP delegation alleged that he was attacked with stones, bottles and slippers while returning from the police station, it was also said that during the attack, the glass of his car was broken and he was injured.

Somaiya alleged that the police supported the goons during the attack and the commandos of the Central Industrial Security Force were also beaten up.

Somaiya requested a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Ministry of Home Affairs to conduct a probe while asking the CISF to register another FIR with the Mumbai Police.

Somaiya mentioned that the attack was the third attack on him, so his security arrangements should be reviewed and demanded action against the culprits and Khar police station officials.

The BJP delegation included MLAs Mihir Kotecha, Amit Satam, Parag Shah, Rahul Narvekar, and Vinod Mishra. The meeting with Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla was held in North Block, Delhi
