BJP MLA Ashish Shelar Questions BMC Functioning In Maharashtra Assembly

Mumbai: On Thursday the Maharashtra assembly tabled various issues citing problems faced by Mumbaikars. One of the major issues was BMC’s upcoming various projects which were also discussed in the Assembly

BJP MLA Ashish Shelar said that the dream to transform Mumbai into a world-class city in the interest of people has been changed. The plot at Carter Road in Bandra West reserved for BMC market, school, old age home and DP Road has now been transferred to a developer. This transaction was procured for Rs. 2,000 crore

The leader even questioned the functioning and scam happening in BMC, after Ankush Kakade, an RTI activist, revealed malpractice taking place in BMC. According to Shelar, the corporation is functioning in an absolutely indiscriminate and bogus manner. While commenting on the scam of BMC Shelar said, “ Hamey toh haadso ne Shambhala hai’ (accidents are a part of our lives) in the assembly.

BJP leaders targeted every activity, scam and theft of BMC.  As the state government and other semi-government organisations owe nearly Rs 21,905 crore to the corporation which amounts to nearly 60 per cent of its budget. He asked about the viral audio clip which went viral of the standing committee threatening and abusing the contactor to leave the job. While saying the assembly he said that the corporation doesn’t understand the needs of the Mumbaikars. “Are you ever going to understand what Mumbaikars want,” questioned MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar.

MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar pointed out the corporation on proposing a 14 per cent increase in the property tax, in spite of making an announcement that there will be no increase in the property tax. According to him, during the pandemic, Taj Hotel was forgiven Rs 8.5 crore which is now being recovered by the common man. He also said can someone believe that the corporation spent Rs 368 crore for cleaning the school premises during the pandemic period.
