BJP Turned K’taka Into Corruption Capital Of Country: Congress’ Shivakumar

He further claimed that the government had failed to bring justice to contractor Santosh Patil

Mumbai: Congress leader DK Shivakumar on Wednesday alleged that the BJP-led state government has transformed Karnataka into the “corruption capital of the country”.

He further claimed that the government had failed to bring justice to contractor Santosh Patil.

The Congress leader further said that the Karnataka government is trying to protect former Minister KS Eshwarappa in the related case.

“I don’t know what happened to the Chief Minister. When the probe was supposed to happen, Chief Minister, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP chief JP Nadda and General Secretary Arun Singh, all of them gave a clean chit to Eshwarappa; how will probe happen then?” he said.

“They are only saving the accused (KS Eshwarappa). They have made this (state) the corruption capital of this country. I don’t know why Bommai is speaking on moral policing,” he said.

Shivakumar has been targeting the government on this issue. Earlier, he had demanded the arrest of Eshwarappa in connection with the alleged suicide of Santosh Patil.

Shivakumar had said, “Resignation is not a solution. A case of corruption has to be registered, then they have to be arrested.

Meanwhile, Eshwarappa resigned on Friday following a controversy over his alleged role in the contractor’s suicide. He said he would submit his resignation to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai tomorrow.

The deceased contractor Santosh Patil had levelled corruption allegations against Minister Eshwarappa. He was found dead at a lodge in Udupi on Tuesday.
