BJP Won’t Go Anywhere For Next Many Decades, Says Prashant Kishor; Takes Swipe At Rahul Gandhi

Mumbai: Political strategist Prashant Kishor on Thursday said that even if the people of this country throw Narendra Modi out, the BJP would remain at the centre of Indian politics for the next many decades.

Interacting with the media in Goa, Kishor said, “Whether they win, whether they lose, they are not going anywhere,” adding that once a party secures a 30 per cent vote at the India level, they are unlikely to leave in a hurry.

Equating BJP’s current influence in India to the first forty years of the Congress, he questioned Rahul Gandhi’s statement that it’s just a matter of time that people of India would throw Narendra Modi away.

Kishor said that the saffron party is not going anywhere, reacting to Rahul’s remark that people will throw away Modi.

“You will never be able to defeat the BJP and Narendra Modi unless you analyse his strength and take cognizance of it,” he added.

He further raised the issue of the fragmented voter and linked it to the decline of Congress. Kishor said, “one-third of people are voting for the BJP or willing to lend their support but the saffron party is winning because the two-third side is fragmented and divided into several political parties.”

Earlier this month, Kishor cautioned Congress that people are looking for a quick, spontaneous revival of the grand old party, but they are setting themselves up for a big disappointment.

His remarks came a day after the Congress delegation including Rahul Gandhi and Party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met the family of a deceased farmer in the Lakhimpur Kheri district.

He also took a dig at the Congress Party over the crisis in Punjab and Chhattisgarh, saying there are no quick-fix solutions to the deep-rooted problems and structural weakness.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was the first person to attack Kishor over his remark saying that people looking for a national alternative based on poaching INC functionaries who can’t win even their seats are in for a big disappointment.

Responding to this, the TMC called Baghel a first-time CM who is punching above his weight and trying to please the high command, triggering a war of words between Congress and TMC.
