Centre Will Soon Announce Guidelines For Next 15 Days: Karnataka CM

Mumbai: The central government will soon announce the guidelines for 15 days, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa said on Saturday.

Referring to a video conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, Chief Minister Yeddyurappa told reporters here that the PM advises them not to compromise on the lockdown.

“We are getting suggestions to extend the lockdown for the next 15 days. PM Modi said that in the next 1-2 days, the Indian government will announce the guidelines for the next 15 days. The lockdown for the next two weeks will be different from the one in force currently,” he said.

“The central government will set some guidelines for employment for agriculture and industry, especially for economic activities. Government offices will continue to work with partial staff,” he said.

He said that the Government of India has identified 142 hotspots across India and there is a need to take precautionary measures in those hotspots.

The Chief Minister of Karnataka elaborated on the measures taken by the state government amid the current COVID-19 situation.

“Seven cases have been reported in the state this morning, taking the total number of COVID-19 positive cases to 214. Karnataka, which was initially ranked third among the states, has the highest number of KOVID-19 cases. Reported, now stands at number 11,” said Yediyurappa.

“Strict action has been taken to enforce the lockdown. There are 345 check posts in Bengaluru city and 588 check posts in other districts and interstate boundaries. So far 43,432 vehicles have been seized. 1,558 FIRs filed for lockdown violations Whereas 2,682. People have been arrested, “he said.

He further said that 50 foreign nationals of Tabligi Jamaat have been identified and they have been left in the state till date. There have also been cases of violation of visa rules.

“269 Tabligi Jamaat activists have been identified in Bengaluru city and 482 workers in other districts. A total of 801 workers are quarantined in the State. 581 people from Karnataka, who had attended Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi, have been quarantined in other States,” said Yediyurappa.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Health Department said, “Coronavirus cases in Karnataka go up to 214, with seven more people testing positive between 5PM Friday and 12PM Saturday.”

According to the Department of Health, all seven of these people have a history of contact with COVID-19 patients. Five of them are employees of a pharmaceutical company in Mysuru.

“Out of the total cases in the state, six people have died while 37 others were cured or discharged,” added the state health department.
