Congress Aims to Defeat BJP But Some Parties Are Helping Them: Mallikarjun Kharge On Mamata’s ‘No UPA’ Remark

On her three-day visit to Maharashtra, Mamata took a dig at the Congress saying, What is UPA? There is no UPA.

Mumbai: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday criticized West Bengal Chief Minister’s Remark of ‘No UPA’ and said that Congress’ aim is to defeat BJP while some people are only helping the ruling party at the Centre.

Speaking to ANI, Kharge said, “Mamata Banerjee is absolutely wrong that the UPA does not exist. It is also wrong to launch personal attacks on Rahul Gandhi. Mamata Banerjee’s allegation that Rahul ji is not visible anywhere is wrong. Congress is raising every issue and is fighting everywhere. Our aim is to defeat BJP but some people are helping that party only. Congress is in power in many states and also in Opposition in some places. Also Read: ‘Fight Against BJP Can Be Fought Only Under Congress Leadership’: Congress Leader on Mamata’s ‘No UPA’ Remark

“We have tried to include them (TMC) in various socio-political issues where Congress made its name. The opposition should not get divided and fight amongst themselves. We have to fight against BJP together,” added the senior Congress leader. Also Read: We Are Ready For A Female PM: Richa Chadha Tells Mamata Banerjee

After meeting NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday, she called for an anti-BJP front and further took a dig at the Congress saying, “What is UPA? There is no UPA.”

On her three-day visit to Maharashtra, Mamata has met state minister Aditya Thackeray, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar.

It has been underlined more than once that all is not well between Congress and the TMC. Last month, she skipped meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi during her Delhi visit, while many Congress leaders have left the grand old party and joined the TMC, further infuriating the Congress leadership in Delhi.
