Courts Should Wrap Rape Cases At The Same Time Equivalent To Age Of Victim: Harsimrat Kaur

Mumbai: Condemning the Hyderabad rape-murder case, Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that the courts should wrap up rape cases in a time-bound manner and a verdict should be given in several days as per the age of the victim.

Speaking with ANI News Agency, Harsimrat Kaur Badal said, “If a six-year-old girl is raped then her case should be shut down within six months if a 26-year-old woman is raped her case should be shut down in 26 months and so on. The cases should be handled in a time-bound manner depending on the age of the girl or woman.”

She also said that courts should organize special sessions with women lawyers to help them fight cases related to women. Badal said, “They should think outside the box. All the women’s courts should run in a time-bound manner.”

Condemning the Hyderabadbad incident, the minister said: “It is very sad because we as a government cannot give justice to our daughters, as well as many other reasons. Every time such incidents happen and in the news Becomes an issue, but then it becomes business as usual. ”

“For such incidents, severity is required at every level, including the level of society, the level of government and even the level of courts. This severity is missing so incidents are increasing,” he said.

On November 28, a female veterinarian was allegedly gang-raped and murdered and her body burnt on the outskirts of Shadnagar in Ranga Reddy district of Telangana. A day later, the Hyderabad police arrested four people in connection with the case.
