COVID-19 Vaccination For Youth Halted In Delhi From Today: Kejriwal

Mumbai: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has said the COVID-19 vaccination for youth has been halted in the capital from Saturday as the stock for this category has been consumed.

During a press talk, Arvind Kejriwal confirmed that the vaccination campaign for the 18+ category has been stopped in Delhi since today as the vaccine stock for this category has been consumed.

He further said that Delhi needs 2.5 crore doses, but only 16 lakh doses have been received in May and only 8 lakh doses are expected in June.

Kejriwal said, “The Delhi government needs 80 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses a month to vaccinate the entire population of the national capital.”

He said that to meet the growing demand for COVID-19 vaccines, the Center should order all pharma companies to make vaccines as India Biotech has agreed to share the covaxin formula with other firms.

The Delhi CM has also told that some foreign countries have accumulated more COVID vaccines and the Modi government should request them to give a surplus vaccine to India.

He also advised the Central government to buy COVID-19 vaccines from foreign countries within 24 hours and distribute them among states.

“Foreign companies should be allowed to produce vaccines in India,” said Arvind Kejriwal.
