Ramdev Says ‘Lakhs Died Due To Allopathic Medicines’, IMA Demands Action Against Him

Mumbai: Indian Medical Association has urged Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan to take action against yoga guru Baba Ramdev for a “vitriolic accusation on modern medicine”.

The association has asked the Central government to take action against Yog Guru Swami Ramdev under the Epidemic Diseases Act.

Reacting to a video that went viral on social media, where Ramdev is allegedly speaking out against allopathic drugs, the IMA issued a press release demanding that Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan accept either accept the accusation and dissolve modern medical facility or book and prosecute Yog Guru under the Epidemic Diseases Act.

The IMA said, “IMA brings to the notice of our honourable Health Minister, a video circulating on social media addressing Yoga Guruji ‘Modern Allopathy is one such stupid and Diwaliya science hai’ (modern allopathy is a stupid and failed science).”

“Even in the past, he has called modern medical doctors killers on the pretext of releasing his miraculous medicines in the presence of the Honorable Health Minister. However, it is a well-known fact the said Yoga Guruji and his associate Shri Balkrishna Ji have been taking modern medical allopathy treatment as and when they get into illness,” it added.

The IMA alleged that Ramdev made the remarks to mislead the public at large and that yoga gurus are all making false and baseless acquisitions to sell their illegal and unapproved drugs.

“Swami Ramdev deserves to be prosecuted for disobeying and cause danger to the life of many by making them believe and make them not to take the advice of allopathy drugs. His quote about Favipiravir as medicine against fever/antipyretic is laughable, childish, and demonstrates his in-depth scientific knowledge,” the country’s top medical body said.

The IMA has also warned that if an action is not taken against Ramdev then the medical body will take legal action against him.
