Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Meets Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman

Mumbai: Chief Minister of capital city Arvind Kejriwal met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Later confirming the meeting he said

“I met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman ji and assured her of our cooperation.”

On asking what was the agenda of the meeting he said, “We discussed issues relating to improving Delhi’s economy, demanded grants from Centre to municipal bodies in Delhi and IGST of Rs 3,000 crore that is with the Centre should be returned to Delhi.”

Issues have been increasing on making Metro free for women on which Kejriwal said, “Legally, the Delhi government doesn’t need to send a proposal to the Centre regarding free ride for women on Delhi Metro. Both the Delhi Metro & Delhi government are ready to work on this proposal. Being the Delhi Chief Minister, I assure women of Delhi that we will implement free Metro ride for women in Delhi.”

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government recently announced to travel for women and buses in Delhi Metro. A Delhi government official said, “The government is planning free travel for women in public transport and is going to bear the loss of revenue that Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.”

State Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot had allegedly met a meeting with senior officials of DMRC and asked him to present a proposal that he could give free travel facility for women and what would be the cost.
