Delhi Metro Launches Free WiFi Services On Airport Express Line

The following year, Delhi Metro launched free high-speed Wi-Fi service at all 50 stations of its Blue Line service

Mumbai: In a recent development, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced free high-speed Internet facility on the Airport Express Line. This is the first time that Delhi Metro is providing WiFi services in moving trains. Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Mangu Singh unveiled the free Wi-Fi facility at Shivaji Stadium metro station.

To use the high-speed Internet facility, the traveller must log in on the “METROWIFI_FREE” network. One has to enter his phone number and send to an OTP mobile number. After the login is successful, the computer can. Enjoy free Wi-Fi service during the journey.

Spread over 22.7 kilometers, the Delhi Metro network has six stations. The Delhi airport metro line was launched in 2011 through a public-private partnership with Reliance Infrastructure. In 2013, Reliance Infrastructure abandoned the partnership and DMRC took over operations.

Delhi Metro first introduced Wi-free Wi-Fi ‘facilities at six metro stations on the Airport Express Line in 2016. The following year, Delhi Metro launched free high-speed Wi-Fi service at all 50 stations of its Blue Line service.

Travellers can search for the Wi-Fi option and log into ‘Our DMRC Free Wi-Fi’ to avail the service. Commuters can use standard internet applications inside the station premises like email, Facebook, Google, video chat as well as live streaming of cricket and football matches etc, said DMRC.

Delhi Metro also plans to install free Wi-Fi in metro coaches of other future corridors. DMRC has tied up with a consortium led by TechnoSet Communications to provide free Wi-Fi facility at metro stations. It has been providing free wifi service in Delhi Metro since 2016.
