Delhi Resident Doctors To End Strike Against Delay In NEET Counselling After 12 pm Today

Mumbai: Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association President Dr Manish said resident doctors in Delhi will call off their strike against delay in NEET 2021 counselling after 12 pm today.

After a meeting between FORDA members and the joint CP of Delhi Police, the doctors decided to call off the strike.

Manish said, “We will call off the strike today (Friday) afternoon as it was causing loss to many patients and there has been an increase in the cases of Covid.”

“Last evening we met the Joint CP of Delhi. The Delhi police have initiated the process of quashing the FIR,” said Dr Manish.

He said the Joint CP has sent a video message to rebuild the trust between the doctors and the police.

The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has proposed three demands- a fixed date for NEET-PG counselling, apology from the authorities and quashing of FIRs against protesting doctors.

Resident doctors in Delhi went on strike to protest the use of “brute force” by the Delhi Police against the demand for NEET-PG counselling.

The protesting doctors had alleged that they were “brutally beaten, dragged and detained” by the Delhi Police.

Resident doctors across the country have protested several times against the postponement of NEET-PG counselling 2021 from November 27.

The counselling got delayed after several petitions in Supreme Court challenged the EWS quota in the All India Quota for the NEET PG counselling.
