Director Anurag Kashyap Quits Twitter Following Threats, Members f Citizen Speak India Says ‘We Condemn Threats Of Violence’

Mumbai: Anurag Kashyap one of the finest directors of Bollywood had recently quit Twitter following threat to him and his family.

After which several Several members of Citizen Speak India including eminent personalities like Aparna Sen and Anjum Katyal strongly condemned the ‘threats of violence’ against the director.

“This is a matter that demands immediate attention. Free speech is the cornerstone of democracy, and Kashyap is one of the many people who face the risk of violence only to express an opinion on a public platform, “Read the release.

“This culture of violence and intolerance is spreading dangerously in our society! We all have to oppose it. It is our request to every fellow citizen, including those in political and corporate leadership positions, to stand against it.” It is breaking the democratic fabric of our country, trying to silence all dialogue, debate and dissent,” it added.

Before he left Twitter, the filmmaker made two tweets stating the reason behind his move. The screenshots of his last tweets shared on Twitter mention threatening calls to his parents and daughter.

The tweet reads, “When your parents start getting calls and your daughter receives threats online, you know that no one wants to talk. There isn’t going to be reason or rationale.”

Saying that “thugs” will rule, Anurag also took a pinch on the word ‘New India’ and wrote, “Thugs will rule and thugs will be a new way of life. Congratulations to all and hope for this new India Will be thrilled. ”

In another tweet shared a few moments later, he announced that this would be his last tweet as he isn’t allowed to speak his mind freely.

“Wish you all the happiness and success. This would be my last tweet as I leave twitter. When I won’t be allowed to speak my mind without fear then I would rather not speak at all. Goodbye,” Anurag’s last tweet read.
