Eknath Shinde Claims Support Of 50 Shiv Sena MLAs, Says Will Return To Mumbai Shortly

Mumbai: Rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde on Tuesday said 50 MLAs from Maharashtra are with his camp and will soon return to Mumbai.

Speaking to reporters here, Shinde said, “We are in Shiv Sena and we are taking Shiv Sena forward. There should not be any doubt about it. We will give let you know about our further course of action. I would be in Mumbai soon.”

On Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray’s claim that 15 to 20 MLAs were kidnapped and had been abducted and had reached out to the party to bring them back to Mumbai from Guwahati, Shinde said that “no one MLA has been suppressed” and all is with him of their own will. Also Read: 15-20 Rebel MLAs In Touch With Shiv Sena, Want To Come Back: Aaditya Thackeray

“No MLA has been suppressed here, everyone is happy here. Legislators are with us. If Shiv Sena says that the MLAs present here are in touch with them, then they should reveal the names,” he said.

He further said that the rebel MLAs are in favour of Balasaheb Thackeray’s Hindutva and are excited to take it forward.

“Our spokesperson is Deepak Kesarkar, he will give you all the details. He is telling you about our stand and role. We are speaking about Balasaheb Thackeray’s Hindutva and we are carrying it forward,” Shinde told reporters in Guwahati.

Meanwhile, former Maharashtra Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis arrived in Delhi on Tuesday amid the ongoing political situation in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in the state.

He arrived in the national capital on Monday after a meeting of the core committee of the Maharashtra unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party to discuss the political situation in the state.

The political tussle in Maharashtra between the Shiv Sena and the Eknath Shinde-led rebel group reached the Supreme Court with petitions filed by the camp challenging the disqualification proceedings against Shinde and 15 other rebel MLAs.

Shinde had on Monday filed a separate petition in the apex court seeking protection of MLAs challenging party chief and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. A bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice JB Pardiwala heard the petitions on Monday.

The Supreme Court granted interim relief to rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and other MLAs till 5.30 pm on July 12 to file their replies to the disqualification notice issued by the Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly.
