Empowered Poor Aligned With Good Governance Eliminates Poverty: PM Modi

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that poverty can be eradicated by combining manpower with good governance. On Tuesday, the Prime Minister virtually addressed the home entry of about 5.21 lakh beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin in Madhya Pradesh.

PM Modi said, “When a hardworking government and the aspirations of the common man join hands, growth and progress are always unlimited. Poverty ends when poor people are empowered, while their strength is combined with good governance.”

He also said that today around 5.21 lakh families of Madhya Pradesh have got ‘pucca houses’ which will “mainly empower the women of the state” and “open a world of opportunities for the poor.”

PM Modi said, “This scheme is a step towards empowerment of the poor and gives them hope for a bright future full of possibilities. 5.21 lakh houses in Madhya Pradesh are also a symbol of women empowerment.”

Further, the Prime Minister said that the campaign to provide pucca houses to the poor is not just a government scheme. PM Modi said, “There is a commitment to give hope to the poor.”

“This is the first step to give courage to the poor to come out of poverty. When poor people have a roof over their heads, they can focus on educating their children,” he said.

Highlighting the salient features of the houses given under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin Yojana, PM Modi said, “These houses are special as they include gas connection under Ujjwala scheme, LED bulb connection under Ujala Yojna, toilets under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and water supply under the Har Ghar Jal Yojna.”

The function also witnessed traditional celebrations with conch, lamp, flowers and rangoli organised in the new houses built under the scheme in Madhya Pradesh.
