FIR Against Raj Teacher For ‘We Won’ WhatsApp Status After Pak’s Win Against India

Mumbai: An FIR has been registered against a Rajasthan school teacher who was sacked for her ‘Jeet Gaye…we won’ WhatsApp status after Pakistan’s victory over India in the T20 World Cup match.

Attari’s status, captioned ‘we won’ in Hindi, featured photos of Pakistani cricket players, news agency ANI reported. Also Read: FIRs Filed Against Medical Students In Kashmir For Celebrating Pakistan’s Win vs India

To justify the update on the private messenger app, she said, “Our family members were split in two and supported their teams. Either way, it doesn’t mean I’m supporting Pakistan,” quoted The Indian Express.

After outrage by right-wing groups outside Udaipur’s Neerja Modi School, she issued an apology. The apology states that as soon as she realized his ‘mistake’, she removed the status.

According to DSP Udaipur Mahendra Parik, an FIR has been registered at Amba Mata police station in the city under section 153B (allegation, prejudicial to national unity) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Meanwhile, students, wardens and staff of two medical colleges in Kashmir were also booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) after they allegedly raised anti-India slogans and celebrated Pakistan’s victory in Sunday’s T20 World Cup match.
