Significantly, a video of Randhawa has gone viral on social media in which the BJP leader allegedly made derogatory remarks against Kashmiri Muslims after celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India in the T20 World Cup cricket match.

According to BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit president Ravinder Raina, the remarks made by Randhawa are completely against the core principles of the party, which beliefs in respecting all religions.

“The video came to the notice of the party and the disciplinary committee immediately issued a show-cause notice to them as such language cannot be tolerated,” Raina said.

According to the show-cause notice, the BJP disciplinary committee headed by Sunil Sethi has asked Randhawa to explain his position within 48 hours.

The notice read, “A video has gone viral on social media in which you are seen making absolutely reckless and hateful remarks against a particular community. This is unacceptable to the party and has brought disrepute and embarrassment to the party.”

Meanwhile, Raina said that he is upset to hear Randhawa’s remarks, which are completely against the party’s core principles, which beliefs in respecting all faiths and taking everyone along in accordance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas.”

He further described Kashmiri Muslims as nationalists at heart and said that a small group of 50 or 60 people celebrated Pakistan’s victory in the match. “The government has taken appropriate action against them as per the law of the land,” Raina said.

The J&K BJP President further lauded the people of Kashmir, saying that thousands of youth are serving in the Army, Police and Paramilitary forces, and taking enemy bullets on their chests in the service of the nation.

“Randhawa has to apologize for his remarks or be ready for strict action. His remarks are in his personal capacity and have nothing to do with the party,” Raina said.

Randhawa’s video was shared on Twitter by senior J&K Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Naeem Akhtar. At that time, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti had asked why action was not taken against the BJP leader.

“Students are charged with sedition for merely cheering for the winning team,” said Mufti while referring to the action taken against students spotted in celebratory videos that appeared after Pakistan’s victory.

Randhawa’s alleged remarks had led to protests in the Jammu region.
