‘From Swachh Bharat Abhiyan To Ayushman Bharat Digital’ India Working On Transforming Health Sectors: PM Modi

Modi laid the foundation of 4 new medical colleges in Rajasthan, extending better health facilities

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, said that India is working on a new National Health Policy, laying the foundation stone of four new medical colleges in 4 districts of Rajasthan via video-conferencing.

Speaking on the importance of the health sector throughout the pandemic he said, “This pandemic has taught a lot in the health sector across the world. Every country is engaged in dealing with this crisis in its own way. India has resolved to increase its strength, self-reliance during this time.”

“We are working on a new national health policy to transform the health sector of the country. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to Ayushman Bharat and now Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, etc. are part of this,” PM Modi said.

Modi added, “Recently launched Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will help in extending health services in every corner of the country. Access to good hospitals, laboratories, pharmacies, etc. will be just a click away. This’ll help in keeping patients’ medical documents safely.”

He further lauded the Indian health workforce for administrating over 88 crores of vaccines in the nation.

“Impact of skilled manpower associated with the health sector is seen in health services. Its importance was felt more during the pandemic. As a result of which, the Centre started & is continuing a free vaccination program. Today, India administered over 88 crores of vaccine,” said Modi.

Over 2000 students will get admissions to the new medical colleges in Banswara, Sirohi, Hanumangarh & Dausa in Rajasthan, extending better health facilities. PM Modi also inaugurated the Institute of Petrochemicals Technology.
