Germany Has Earmarked Rs. 7,080 Launched Indo-German Partnership For Green Urban Mobility

Mumbai: The German Chancellor and PM Modi signed 17 agreements during the 5th Inter-Governmental Consultations held on Friday at the Hyderabad House in Delhi.

“We have launched an Indo-German partnership for green urban mobility. We have earmarked US$1 billion towards this,” Angela Merkel at the meeting with the business delegation, reported ANI.

“We intend to work very closely on sustainable development and climate protection. India has rather low CO2 footprints. The future industrial development, of course, needs to be as sustainable as possible. 74 GW of renewable energy is here in India and that something that you have reiterated and moved forward. I can congratulate you on that part,” Merkel said.

The German Chancellor had also spoken about investing almost 200 million euros to reform the bus sector in Tamil Nadu, “We will also earmark Euros 200 million to reform bus sector in Tamil Nadu. Whoever has looked at pollution in Delhi yesterday would find very good arguments for replacing diesel buses with electric buses.”

Merkel also said Germany has earmarked one billion dollars (about Rs 7,080 crore) launched Indo-German partnership for green urban mobility. While addressing the 63rd the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) here today, “We have launched Indo-German partnership for green urban mobility. We have earmarked US$1 billion towards this. ”

As Delhi NCR had crossed the severe level of pollution and enters to severe plus category the angel Merkel said, “We want to cooperate more closely in the health, agriculture and Artificial Intelligence sector. We can cooperate more in the agricultural sector. Something needs to be done as agriculture is an important sector in India, Water scarcity is another problem in India and we can work together towards these issues.”

She also discussed the barriers that the Germany company thinks before invest, “We wish to contribute to urbanisation and smart cities. We have good technology in water and waste management,” she said.

Regarding the investment of German, there should be new regulation new momentum required, “We are close to a conclusion on no. of issues like access to public procurement and public tendering processes. We also intend to give a boost to multilateralism trade system. We would like to strengthen the coalition on multilateralism. India is economically strong. We also have a common interest in developing Afghanistan, We know that India will celebrate 75 years of independence in 2022. In the meantime, we will be able to identify more areas of cooperation. You have a very young population,” Merkel said.

Kashmir issue during her talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday evening, and conveyed that the “situation for the people in Kashmir is unsustainable and not good”, according to German journalists accompanying her.
