Have Tea With Dalits And Make Them Understand Not To Cast Votes Based On Caste: UP BJP Chief

His remarks came after opposition party alleged that Dalits are facing atrocities on daily basis in the state under BJP regime

Mumbai: In the polls-bound state of Uttar Pradesh, the BJP state chief Swatantra Dev Singh on Sunday asked his party workers to have tea with Dalits and make them understand that votes are not cast based on caste or religion.

“…Have tea with 100 Dalits and make them understand that votes are cast on the basis of nationalism, and not on the basis of caste, money or region…,” the BJP leader was quoted by ANI. Also Read: BJP Considers Only 80% Hindus In India As Bharatiya: Mani Shankar Aiyar

Yesterday, Singh reportedly addressed two BJP gatherings – OBC Samajik Pratinidhi Sammelan (Society Representatives of OBCs) and the Vaishya Vyapari Sammelan (Vaishya Traders Society).

While addressing the BJP workers, he said party men should convince Dalits to vote for the saffron party in the upcoming Assembly election in the state.

His remarks came after Opposition parties hit out at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in UP alleging that Dalits, minorities and others have been facing atrocities on daily basis in the state under this regime.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, who launched her campaign with a rally from Varanasi on October 10, had earlier said, “Dalits, weavers, OBCs, the poor, minorities and Brahmins have been exploited. Ji is running the Govt against the teachings of Guru Gorakhnath. This Govt is attacking people on a daily basis.”
