HC Orders Demolition Of Portions Of 48 High-Rise Buildings Near Mumbai Int’l Airport

Mumbai: Bombay High Court on Friday ordered the Mumbai Suburban Collector to demolish portions of 48 high-rise buildings near Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

The HC order comes in compliance with the orders of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

As per the order of the Bombay High Court, the portion above a certain height has to be demolished.

The demolition should be carried out before August 19 in compliance with the orders of the DGCA, HC added.

The high court was hearing public interest litigation (PIL) filed by advocate Yashwant Shenoy raising concerns over the dangers posed by high-rises near the Mumbai airport.
