Hope Central Leaders Find Way So That I Continue To Remain In Cong: Hardik Patel

Mumbai: Gujarat Congress Working President Hardik Patel on Tuesday said he is currently with the party and “hoped” that the central leaders find a way so that he continues to remain in the Congress. Patel said there were others who wanted him to leave the Congress and break his morale.

Patel took to Twitter to express his views, tagging an interview with a newspaper regarding his association with Congress.

Patidar Le wrote, “I am currently in Congress. I am hopeful that central leaders will find some way so that I can continue in Congress. There are some people who want Hardik to leave Congress. They want to break my morale.”

His statement came a day after he dismissed media reports that indicated that he would join the BJP ahead of the assembly elections in the state in December this year. He had recently praised the saffron camp.

He said, “People talk a lot. When Joe Biden was elected US President, I admired him because the Vice President (Kamala Harris) was of Indian origin. Does that mean that I am joining Joe Biden’s party? In politics, if our enemy is good and worth appreciating, we have to keep that in mind too.”

“If they (BJP) are good at making decisions, then we also need to take quick decisions. If you waste time, people will eventually turn away from us. There are many who want to strengthen the party. My only point is that such youngsters must get space in the party,” Patel added.

He also said that he is unhappy with the state leadership but has no ill-will towards Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Patel said, “I have said this earlier also. I am unhappy with the state leadership, not Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka ji. My only problem with the state leadership is that the party should give responsibilities to strong and committed people because the state assembly Elections are near.”

He said that the party should give space to those working at the village level to strengthen the organisation.

Urging people to not read much between the lines or spread rumours about his “unhappiness”, Hardik said the Congress was like a family where members were free to raise questions and express their views.
