Hyderabad Woman Files False Gangrape Complaint After Neighbour Refuses To Give ₹10,000

She had lodged a false complaint against the neighbour as he refused to give her money for medical treatment

Mumbai: A woman in Hyderabad filed a false complaint alleging that she was gang-raped by her neighbour and two of his friends after her neighbour turned down her demand for money to fund medical treatment.

The complainant is a resident of the Golconda area, a divorcee and works as a house help. Two days ago, she approached the Golconda police and lodged a complaint, against the owner of a grocery shop in her locality and his two friends for gangraping her.

She alleged that one month ago, the three men took her out in a car under the pretext of showing her residential property in Shaheen Nagar for rent, as she had to rent a house. However, they tied her up and sexually assaulted her inside the four-wheeler.

According to a report published by The Times of India, the woman claimed that she was silenced by threatening with a firearm and warned against venturing out of the house by her neighbour. She further alleged that the trio clicked her photographs and threatened that she would show them to other people if she disclosed the crime.

A case of gang rape was registered under the Indian Penal Code, based on the women’s complaint. The complainant was sent for medical examination.

However, on Sunday, the case took a shocking turn when the woman arrived at the police station and was informed, she filed a fake complaint.

“On Sunday, the complainant came to the police station and gave a statement saying that she had lodged a false complaint against the neighbour as he refused to give her Rs 10,000 when she requested the amount for medical treatment,” quoted by TOI.

The officer said that details of the FIR lodged based on the woman’s complaint, and the latest statement given by her have been sent for legal advice. The police have sought legal opinion for taking appropriate action.
