Goa Polls 2021: Kejriwal Promises Government Schools, Mohalla Clinic, Free Electricity & Unemployment Allowance

Responding to the claims that Kejriwal was indulging in “soft Hindutva”, he said he visits temples because he is a Hindu

Mumbai: Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have been making a slew of promises to the people of the coastal state, ahead of the assembly elections next year in the BJP ruling Goa.

Kejriwal, who is on a two-day visit to Goa starting Sunday, has once again vowed to improve the situation of government schools in the state as well as build Mohalla clinics and provide 24/7 free electricity to domestic consumers up to a certain number of units.

On Monday the AAP national convenor interacted with residents of Mauxi village in the Poriem Assembly constituency and told them that if his party is voted to power in the next state elections, it will change the face of education here.

“We have improved the conditions of government schools in Delhi so much so, even the students of private schools go there. We’ll build such schools in every village of Goa as well,” Kejriwal promised Mauxi villagers.

“Every Goa village will have a mohalla clinic with free medicines, tests, consultation and free electricity, like Delhi. Employment will take time; till then unemployment allowance of Rs 3000 will be given per month,” promised the AAP leader.

Responding to the claims that Kejriwal was indulging in “soft Hindutva” ahead of the Goa and Uttar Pradesh elections by visiting temples, the AAP chief said he visits temples because he is a Hindu.

“Do you go to the temple? I also go to the temple. There is nothing wrong with going to the temple. You feel peaceful when you visit it. What is their (those alleging soft Hindutva) objection? Why there should be any objection? I am going to a temple because I am a Hindu. My wife visits the Gaurishankar temple,” Kejriwal said.

“I want to say Pramod Sawant is copying us. When I said we will give electricity-free, he gave water-free. When I said we will provide employment allowance, he announced about 10,000 jobs, and when I spoke about pilgrimages, he announced his scheme,” Kejriwal said reacting to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s remarks that the AAP was copying his government’s schemes like sponsored pilgrimages.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the president of the Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF), Puti Gaonkar, joined the Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of the AAP national convenor. Gaonkar said he aims to facilitate the resumption of mining in Goa and to resolve all land ownership issues.
