“I Appeal To Doctors To Perform Only Symbolic Protests,” Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan

Mumbai: Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan appealed to the doctors performing on Friday to stop their movement or just to protest symbolic protests, “I want to assure all the doctors that the government is committed to their safety. I appeal to doctors to perform only symbolic protests and follow their duties.”

Vardhan’s appeal comes on ‘All India Protest Day’, which is seeing huge reactions of government doctors from several states with solidarity with its counterparts in West Bengal two junior doctors were brutally thrashed by family members of a patient at the NRS Hospital in Kolkata days ago.

“I appeal to CM of West Bengal not to issue it as a prestige issue. She gave doctors an ultimatum, as a result, they got angry and went on strike. Today I will write to Mamta Banerjee and I will also try to talk to her about this issue,” he added.

The strike of doctors started in Kolkata earlier this week has now spread across the entire AIIMS with the association of doctors, who are showing full support to their West Bengal colleagues. In the last four days, the entire health care system was eroded in West Bengal, now protesting against the doctors of Delhi, Mumbai and other cities of India, especially in the national capital Raipur, Patna and Punjab, are being stopped.

Nearly 4,500 Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (M.R.D.) on Friday stopped visiting patients at all 26 government hospitals in the state. A similar protest was being done by MARD members in Pune, Aurangabad and Nagpur who are demanding adequate security for their counterparts in West Bengal.
