Income Tax Will Not Be Raised For Funding Of Nyay Scheme: Rahul

Mumbai: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that the minimum income scheme for the poor will be extended without raising the income tax or without burdening the middle class.

The opposition party has said that if voted to power, then it will give 72,000 rupees per year to the poor families as minimum income, about 25 crore people will benefit, one step Gandhi has termed a ‘surgical strike’ on poverty.

“Money will not be taken from the middle class and income tax will not be raised,” Gandhi said when asked how to raise funds for the Nyuntam Aay Yojna (Nyay) scheme.

While interacting with the students here, the Congress chief said that all calculations have been done for the funding of this scheme.

He said that Congress manifesto was prepared after taking input from all sections of society, including farmers and poor. Gandhi said, “Congress election manifesto was prepared after talking to all stakeholders.”

The Congress chief promised to reserve 33 per cent seats in Parliament if his party is in power, then the Legislative Assembly for women.
