India Records 40,715 COVID-19 Cases, 199 Deaths In Last 24 Hours

Mumbai: The Union Health Ministry said that India reported 40,715 new COVID-19 cases, 29,785 recoveries and 199 deaths in the last 24 hours on Tuesday. With this, the total number of cases in the country has increased to 1,16,86,796.

1,11,81,253 people have recovered so far. While the number of active cases in the country stands at 3,45,377, the death toll has now touched 1,60,166.

However, the number of new cases was seen less than Monday’s tally, touching 46,951- the highest daily spike since November.

Meanwhile, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 23,54,13,233 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to March 22. Of these, 9,67,459 samples were tested on Monday, the ICMR said.
