India Reports 21,257 New COVID Cases And 271 Deaths; Positivity Rate At 1.53%

Mumbai: India has reported 21,257 new COVID-19 cases and 271 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The country’s active caseload dropped to 2,40,221, the lowest in 205 days, while the daily positivity rate stood at 1.53%.

The country’s coronavirus fatalities rose to 4,50,127 with 271 new deaths. The case fatality rate was recorded at 1.33 per cent. Out of the total fatalities, 141 deaths were reported in Kerala and 49 in Maharashtra.

According to the latest data, the share of active cases in the total infections is less than 1 per cent. At present, it is 0.71 per cent. The number of active cases came down to 2,40,221, the lowest in 205 days, as MoHFW data updated at 8 am.

According to the Health Ministry, the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.96 per cent, which is the highest since March 2020.

The number of people who have recovered has increased by 24,963 in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,32,25,221.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that 13,85,706 COVID-19 tests were conducted on October 7 taking the total number of tests in the country to 58,00,43,190.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.53 per cent while the weekly positivity rate stood at 1.64 per cent, less than 3 per cent for the last 105 days.
