India Reports Lowest Daily COVID-19 Cases In 209 Days At 18,346; 263 Deaths

Mumbai: India has reported 18,346 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest rise in the number of daily cases in the last 209 days. The country also saw 263 more deaths in the same time period.

Further, the ministry informed that there were 263 COVID-19 deaths in India in the last 24 hours, of which 149 were from Kerala.

The country’s active caseload is 2,52,902; accounting for less than 1 per cent of the total cases. Notably, the Indian state with the highest recorded active cases of COVID-19, Kerala has 1,29,324 cases, followed by Maharashtra (37,222), Tamil Nadu (16,864), Mizoram (15909) and Karnataka (12021).

According to the ministry, India’s recovery rate is at its highest level since March 2020 and is currently at 97.93 per cent. In the last 24 hours, 29,639 people have been cured, taking the total number of cured people to 3,31,50,886.

The ministry also informed that, under the nationwide immunization drive, India has given 91.54 (91,54,65,826) crore vaccine doses, of which 72,51,419 were administered in the last 24 hours. A total of 57,53,94,042 tests have been done so far.
