India Sees 20,139 New COVID-19 Cases, Highest In 5 Months; Positivity Rate Jumps To 5.10%

Mumbai: India has reported 20,139 new COVID-19 cases and 38 deaths in the last 24 hours. This is the first time since February that the daily COVID-19 cases in the country crossed the 20,000-mark.

The death toll climbed to 5,25,557 with 38 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

Active cases comprise 0.31 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.49 per cent, the ministry said.

The active COVID-19 caseload has registered an increase of 3,619 cases in a span of 24 hours.

According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 5.10 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 4.37 per cent.

The number of people cured of the disease rose to 4,30,28,356, while the death rate was recorded at 1.20 per cent.

According to the ministry, under the nationwide vaccination campaign, 199.27 crore doses of the Covid vaccine have been given in the country so far.
