India Sees 8,503 New COVID-19 Cases In Last 24 Hours, 9.7% Lower Than Yesterday

Mumbai: India registered 8,503 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, 9.7% lower than yesterday, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country rose to 3,46,74,744 with 94,943 active cases. The active caseload is less than one per cent of the total cases and currently stands at 0.27 per cent.

The daily positivity rate was seen at 0.66 per cent which is less than two per cent for the last 67 days. Further, the weekly positivity rate has been reported to be 0.72 per cent which is less than one per cent for the last 26 days.

The number of people who have recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours in the country has increased to 7,678, taking the total number of people who have recovered to 3,41,05,066. Right now the recovery rate is 98.36 per cent.

However, 624 new people died in the country, taking the death toll to 4,74,735.

Meanwhile, over 65.32 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the country so far.

As far as the status of COVID-19 vaccination is concerned, more than 131.18 crore vaccine doses have been given so far under the nationwide vaccination campaign.
