Indian Embassy In Ukraine Asks Nationals To Not Move To Border Posts Without Coordination

Mumbai: The Indian embassy has advised all Indian citizens in Ukraine to not move to the border posts without prior coordination with Government of India officials at the border posts and the embassy.

In a fresh advisory to Indian nationals and students in Ukraine, the Embassy of India in Kyiv said, “All Indian Citizens in Ukraine are advised to not move to any of the border posts without prior coordination with Government of India officials at the border posts (helpline numbers established) and the Emergency numbers of Embassy of India, Kyiv.”

Noting that the situation at various border posts is “sensitive”, the embassy said it is continuously working with its embassies in neighbouring countries for coordinated evacuation of citizens.

“The embassy is finding it difficult to assist Indian nationals arriving at border posts from across the border without prior intimation,” the statement said.

It advised Indian citizens to stay in Ukraine’s western cities instead of visiting border posts without being “fully aware of the situation”.

“Please note, access to water, food, housing and infrastructure in Ukraine’s western cities is relatively safe and reasonable compared to reaching border posts without being fully aware of the situation,” the embassy said.

Those living in the eastern zone have been advised to avoid unnecessary movement and remain at their present place of residence till further instructions.

“All persons presently residing in the Eastern Region are requested to remain at their present place of residence until further instructions, maintain calm, and stay indoors or in shelters as much as possible, with whatever food, water and amenities available and remain patient and avoid unnecessary movement,” the advisory read.

“We once again remind you to exercise caution at all times, be aware of your surroundings and the recent developments,” it added.
